Thrax is one of the Behemoths in Dauntless. It is the keystone Behemoth of the Umbral Escalation.

Journal Entry[ | ]

"Old Arkan said he's not even sure the Thrax is from our reality. ’The skin of the universe has been punctured far too many times by denizens of the Umbral Deeps, my dear Markus.’”

The apparently extinct culture that Orrery field scouts have dubbed the “Void Runners" (what they called themselves is, so far, a mystery) are believed to have unlocked the reality— warping properties of the Umbral Void to travel great distances through space and perhaps even time. They built complex machines that could move entire islands from one location to another over hundreds, perhaps even thousands of kilometres. But eventually they opened a doorway into the wrong umbral pocket universe and released a whole new Behemoth monstrosity into the world.

Dr. Priyani thinks the Void Runners called the slithering insectoid worm-thing a Thrax, if her team’s translations are correct. And once a Thrax had breached the barrier between dimensions it was joined by others. They proceeded to tear hundreds of years of Void Runner civilization down in a single rampage.

The Thrax proved to be unlike any Behemoth anyone had seen before in the Shattered Isles. It ripped through the Void Runners and their hollow island homes like chain blades through an airship's sails, laying waste to their isolated but advanced civilization and killing every last Void Runner it found.

Until this horrific species returns to the Void and stays there, Ramsgate’s Slayers must prepare to face the mighty void worm within the Umbral Deeps—and if the species spreads, all across the Shattered Isles.

Kat’s Hunting Tips:

-The Thrax cannot teleport through portals with a Slayer on its back. Stay mounted to keep it grounded.

-A Thrax can be interrupted by any attack during its slither-chomp maneuver.

-Players swallowed by a Thrax during can be freed by dealing enough damage to the Thrax.

-Thraxes use portals not just to teleport themselves, but Slayers as well. Don’t get used to your current surroundings.
